#Thankmas and Maybe One day I could donate a ton of money Like JackSepticEye

I'm currently (as of 12/13/20 1:45pm Eastern) watching Jack Septic Eye live stream an event called Thankmas.
#Thankmas is an annual multi-platform digital fundraising event taking place December 12-20th created by Jacksepticeye and Real Good Touring to help bring some much-needed relief and joy to children and families facing hunger this holiday season. This digital fundraiser will bring together influencers, gamers, streamers, and the public across a range of platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook. All funds raised from #Thankmas are directly donated to Red Nose Day USA, a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief US, a registered U.S. 501(c)(3).
He's not the only one streaming and raising money. Crank Game Plays, Call Me Kevin, and more are all live for this event. Already over 1 million dollars have been raised. (You can donate here and you have until the 20th.)

I'm blogging about it not just to help raise awareness but to talk about something these streams invoke me: a desire.

The streamers in question not only inspire others to give generously, but they also do as well. Jack alone donated $200,000. (*Edit at 2:20pm Eastern. Jack is now going to smaller streamers and donating to their fundraisers so they hit their goals for #Thankmas.) The other week Game Theory raised over 3 MILLION dollars for St. Jude's with some people dropping giant donations.

The desire that invokes in me is not to have a large audience that they can tap into to raise ridiculous amounts of money, but to one day be able to drop large amounts myself.

It may be a bit selfish, but I love the feeling of knowing I helped someone. In the past, I've paid for someone's medicine, went grocery shopping so I could donate a cart full of food to The Salvation Army. Those left me feeling warm and fuzzy. I made someone's life easier.

I'd love to be able to do that to more people, to not be limited in how much I can donate to help others. (Those pesky bills, I tell ya.) And whenever I see these streams, I honestly day dream about that. Mind you, I'm not day dreaming of people patting me on the back. No, I'm thinking about the end page only I would see that confirms my donation.

It's kind of funny, as a self proclaimed anti-social introvert, I want to help people. I want to make them smile and forget their worries for a moment with my books. I'd like to help make their life a little easier. I want to do that for as many people as possible. Maybe one day. Until then, I'll do what I can, donate when I can afford, and spread the word about events like these.
