![]() GUEST POST BY ELLE CARDY As a kid, I was not a strong or fast reader. It didn’t help that I wasn’t a fan of the books I was supposed to study at school. How to kill of love of reading: force someone to read boring books and write long-winded essays about them. When I was about twelve, I was introduced to The Hobbit. Oh. My. Gosh! Now this was a story! That year I devoured Lord of the Rings and continued to sink my hooks into any fantasy I could find. I felt like my whole world had opened. I’d at last found where I belonged. This was when the seed was first planted that maybe I too could create a whole new world for readers to enjoy. After lots of starts and stops, lots of learning the craft of writing, lots of wrestling with fears and doubts, Wielder’s Prize was born. It’s exactly the kind of story I love to read—adventure, magic, action, twists. It’s about Jasmine who has always lived aboard a ship on the high seas. BLURB Snatched from the only home she’s ever known, Jasmine is forced to work as a crew member of a different ship. To survive, she must dodge her captor who has a personal vendetta against her, outsmart a fearsome magic wielder who has taken a dangerous interest in her, and get back to her ship. Somehow. Just when she thinks things couldn’t get worse, she learns she too is a wielder—an untrained wielder who is a threat to everyone on board if she can’t control her magic. And she’s not the only out-of-control wielder on the high seas. The secret of that wielder could shatter everything Jasmine thought she knew. Time and hope is running out. At any cost, she must get back to her ship and discover the truth behind all the secrets before everything is lost. Today is launch day!! The ebook and paperback are now available on Amazon https://amzn.to/2kaZKSV! A tense adventure that will keep you guessing with all of its wicked twists and turns. – Alex J. Cavanaugh, best-selling author Jasmine is one of the most fully realized fantasy characters I've read in a long, long time.—Tyrean Martinson, author of Champion in the Darkness ![]() ABOUT THE AUTHOR Elle Cardy is the pen name of Lynda R Young. I loved reading from the very first, but the book that turned me onto fantasy was the same as you. The Hobbit. My 9th grade English teacher required us to read it. Like you, I then devoured the Lord of the Rings.

This does sound like an interesting book. I remember being forced to read books I didn't like too. My youngest son is having the same problem in school now. He likes to read but only what interests him. Unfortunately he only gets to read what the teacher assigns now.#anythinggoes
