You know what’s crazy? I’m not a poet. I don’t even care to read it much, but I will for a friend. And yet, in book two of Path of Angels, Zadekiel, I gave Zephyr a gift that makes her write poetry. Funny thing to do to a favorite character. I feel like I should have been kinder. I guess, what I wanted was something that was short and snappy, that held a lot in a few words. It also had to mesh well with Zephyr’s character. Poetry fit the bill perfectly. A great poem can tell a whole story if done well. Could the style used also tell a lot about the writer? Here’s one of Zephyr’s poems and judge for yourself. They left behind their home In you they seek the truth With dark eyes the path lies Truth revealed when he speaks Listen please Thy breath to keep Less you sleep eternal sleep ![]() Four brothers bound by a higher power. One path they must follow. As archangels, Michael and his brothers are charged with the divine task of sending escaped fallen angels back to Hell. When they uncover a plan to unleash the most dangerous fallen angel, Michael and his brothers discover there is more to their path than they once believed. They must join forces with unlikely allies and throw off prejudices they once held if they are to save the world. Are they willing to do what it takes to stop the fallen angels? Or will they be the ones to fall? It is definitely a skill not everyone has.

I don't think I was ever in to it. The closest would be at some point in high school where I was trying to write songs.

If it works for the character, it can be a neat device. It's an interesting idea.

It does work for her and I can see Zephyr being into poetry if she didn't have that gift.

Poets can do something I can't do, and I respect that. It's funny that you did that to your character AND to yourself! But poetry can say so much with so little.

Maybe I feel guilty for torturing my characters and am trying to torture myself along with them. ;)

I've never been a poet, either. I'd fall flat on my face if I ever attempted it, even for a character, heh. Fascinating how it became a key trait for one of your characters!

I'm honestly baffled by the variety of characters running around in my head. LOL
