Insecure Writer's Support Group. Image of guy being confused by google search on his computer.
The first Wednesday of every month is the Insecure Writer's Support Group. Posts go up the 1st Wednesday of every month. Check it out here and join if you need support with your writing. Don't forget to stop by and say hello to the co-hosts: C. Lee McKenzie, Erika Beebe, Lisa Buie-Collard, Sadira Stone, and ME!

This month's optional question is: What's the strangest thing you've ever googled in researching a story?

I know I've googled some weird things, but every time this question comes up, my mind goes blank. I can't even recall the last thing I googled for a story! Talk about frustrating. I really ought to write down my searches so I can properly answer this question.

As for my writing insecurities, well, I'm on a roll and my insecurities have been quiet these past few months. They must be plotting something! There's no way I'd be having this much confidence with writing without it coming to bite me in the butt. I dunno. I'm trying not to fret and be doom and gloom while things are going well. That's just asking for things to go wrong.

I don't have much else to say, so I'm going to sign off. Be sure to check out the other hosts this month. Let me know how your writing has been going lately. What's the weirdest thing you've had to research.

I had a mini heart attack. I thought I'd flaked out and slept through Monday and Tuesday. LOL.

Smart woman to be ahead of schedule! Glad to hear you're not suffering any insecurities. Now, go google something weird.

Getting a jump on the week, I see! You made me laugh—your writing insecurity seems to be that since you aren’t having any they’re lying in wait to attack you when least expect! (Actually, that’s about right...).

So glad your writing is going well!

Hi,
Being on that roll could be a sign that you are getting more comfortable with attacking those insecurities and putting yourself into your writing.
It is a good sign. Enjoy it and stop looking for it to discontinue.
Thank you for co-hosting and have a great November.

Strange how Google is such a natural part of our lives, we don't pay attention to how much we use it. LOL! Are writers the only ones who worry when we have nothing we're actively worrying about? Thanks for co-hosting this month and happy writing!

I'm sure I've googled some pretty bizarre things as well, but just can't remember. I'm the same way with authors and books when someone asks me my favorites. Um.....

Delighted to learn your writing is flowing. As for mine, after a dormant two years I'm starting again. I'm relearning the fundamentals: active voice and show don't tell.

Hi,
Your title sums it up nicely ;-) It's usually the strange findings that trip up writing progress. Writing rolls are always better than research tangents, right? Leave those insecurities in the dust and keep on rolling - you're doing fine!
Thanks for hosting ; - )

Thanks for co-hosting today! Had a hard time answering this month's IWSG question at first then the answers coming one by one. For a second I thought I was an abnormal writer because what writer hasn't researched something strange.
Writing wise I've been on a roll lately too. And after months of not rolling at all. Hoping to keep the writing momentum throughout NaNoWriMo and the rest of the year.

I'd take not having insecurities over not remembering google research any day! As for me, I write non-fiction/memoir, so there's not much weird stuff going on (other than my actual life). :-) Thank you for co-hosting IWSG this month!

I hope those insecurities are to do with having got some stuff out - certainly mine have gone quiet at present (but others are rampant!)

Thanks for hosting this month. I know it's possible to track back on what you've googled, but I couldn't remember how and it wasn't important enough to take the time to find out!
