I've been doing a 365 gratitude challenge this year. Every day I need to find one thing to be grateful for. So, when my friend, Lynda, said she needed help with the release of her next book, Cling to God: 365-Day Devotional, I asked her to talk about gratitude and how important it can be in our daily lives.
In my book, Cling to God: 365-Day Devotional, I wrote, “Like young saplings in a dark forest, we need to always reach for the light, straining toward the warmth and goodness that will fill us, help us to grow, and make us strong.”
This special devotional book is a year-long journey with daily inspirational messages and uplifting scripture to help you spend time with God. It includes short Bible-based teachings that will encourage and refresh. It is faith building and thought provoking with reassuring reminders of God’s love.
365 days of inspiration and Bible wisdom to lighten your heart.
365 devotions to bring you peace in uncertain times.
365 ways to Cling to God.
A great companion for individual worship or for group Bible study. The perfect gift book or personal keepsake that will be cherished for years to come.
Start each morning with Cling to God to brighten your day and draw closer to God.
Available as an ebook, paperback, or hardcover

The first Wednesday of every month is the Insecure Writer's Support Group. Posts go up the 1st Wednesday of every month. Check it out here and join if you need support with your writing. Don't forget to stop by and say hi to the co-hosts: Kim Lajevardi, Victoria Marie Lees, Joylene Nowell Butler, Erika Beebe, and Lee Lowery!
I'm skipping this month's question because I have exciting news to share.
2021 marks 10 years writing and publishing for me!
It also marks 10 years of marriage. 10 years since my Endometriosis diagnosis. I will also be 40 later this month. It really is a year of milestones for me. But I mostly want to talk about the writing milestone.
I don't remember when I started writing Being Human, but I do know if you have told me 5 years earlier I would have published a book, I would have laughed. I did think I sucked at writing, after all. It was a whim and boredom that got me writing. August 28th, 2011 I hit publish on Being Human. I had no idea what would happen next. (A small part of me hoped something big.)
To say it's been a ride is an understatement. I've never been a planner, so I have no idea what the next 10 years will bring. More books, I hope.

If you enjoy science fiction movies and books, you might have noticed a tendency for writers to give a unique twist to beverages. For instance, the famed Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster from Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Created by ex-President of the Universe Zaphod Beeblebrox, the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster has a pretty heart kick, according to the famed Guide:
“It says that the best drink in existence is the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, the effect of which is like having your brains smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick. The Guide also tells on which planets the best Pan Galactic Gargle Basters are mixed…” – Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
If you haven’t read Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, within which you can find tidbits from The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (a book within a book), you might want to go find it and read it. It’s a blast of humor, adventure, and wild world-building. The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is one way Adams creates authentic world-building with his innovative and irreverent humor intact.
Also, if you want to discover how to mix a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, you can read the book and check out the numerous sites dedicated to discovering how to re-create it on Earth, including a recipe at All Recipes. In addition to those, some enterprising brewers have come up with their own version which I discovered in a quick web search.
In The Rayatana Series, “awak” is like a mixture of coffee and tea with similar properties. I created awak as a YA-friendly homage to all the other science fiction beverages out there in the books and movies I love.
And why beverages for my guest post theme? Well, I feel like every party, even book parties, have beverages, right? Caffeinated, alcoholic, or non-alcoholic, there are usually beverages at parties. So, I raise my beverage holder of choice and say:
Cheers! Salut! Prost! Slainte! Salud!
Amaya is supposed to bring peace to the galaxy. Which is tough when she’s being held for crimes against the Neutral Zone. Her imprisonment is on her own ship with her own crew. But close quarters create tension.
Honestly, her role as Rayatana is a mess.
She may never get to use her powers for anything good. Not if her teacher continues to keep secrets, and not if her powers keep harming others. Putting her mother in a coma should put her in prison, but she has a mission. She wants to bring peace to her people. She needs to become the Rayatana.
